Executive Summary:
Fort Washakie Charter High School is the only high school in Fremont County School District #21. It is located near Fort Washakie, WY on the Wind River Indian Reservation. Our average enrollment is 50 students, although nearly 100 students enroll every year. Most students transfer into our school from another high school. Most of our students are Native American, primarily Eastern Shoshone or Northern Arapahoe. Over half of our students come to FWCHS behind in some aspect (credits, academics, behavior or all). Many are lacking credits, and choose our school in an effort to get caught up. We have an open-enrollment system which allows students to transfer in at any time. Students can also meet graduation requirements at any time. Much of our core curriculum is on-line and provided to students through the Wyoming “e” Academy of Virtual Education (WeAVE). WeAVE is the only virtual high school in Wyoming. WeAVE courses are also offered throughout Wyoming to students in other school districts. At any given time, on average, 100 to 300 students throughout Wyoming are taking WeAVE courses through their local school district. These students work toward meeting their home district's graduation requirements. Full Document
