Memorandum of Understanding

School Year 2011-2012

A Memorandum of Understanding is required between Fort Washakie High School and a student’s resident (home) district prior to any courses being delivered.

Every distance education student utilizing WeAVE outside of FCSD No. 21 must have a distance learning plan (DLP) in place prior to any courses being delivered.

Resident District is responsible for documenting student completion of milestones.

The Fort Washakie High School also known as the Wyoming E Academy of Virtual Education [WeAVE] agrees to provide content and instruction to insert district name (also known as Resident District) in compliance with the education laws within the state of Wyoming.

Resident District will appoint WeAVE coordinators to ensure that students are pacing themselves in accordance to their distance learning plan, established milestones, and also to provide any additional support that the students may need.

Each district must maintain a trained WeAVE coordinator who has completed the prescribed training program through Fort Washakie High School.  This specifically includes professional development for Genius, a new database for records and registration.

WeAVE will provide all necessary training to WeAVE coordinators and certified teachers, counselors, or mentors that the WeAVE coordinator deems necessary. Travel will be at the expense of resident district.

Any student who plans on attending the WeAVE may only apply through their Resident District’s WeAVE Coordinator.

WeAVE will ensure that all records of student will be delivered in timely manner to Resident District’s WeAVE Coordinator.

ADM will be retained at the resident district to provide additional support for student which may include but is not limited to: counseling services; technology support; library and/or media distribution; tutoring; physical education; elective programming; staff support; professional development; and/or travel.

All grades earned by a student from WeAVE will be accepted by Resident District. WeAVE is accredited by AdvancedEd (formally NCA).

Resident District will develop a Distance Learning Plan (DLP) to ensure that the student is moving in the proper direction for graduation and for Hathaway Scholarship eligibility.  This DLP will be kept on file at both Resident District and WeAVE offices.

Resident District is responsible for any assessment that is required by the Wyoming Department of Education e.g. PAWS and ACT.

Each student will take the REDI Assessment before starting WeAVE courses. This assessment is only applicable to new/first-time students. A copy of this assessment will be sent with each student’s DLP.

If student is on an IEP, Resident District is responsible for including projected outcomes, special needs, and/or services for student. This will be included in the DLP.

The Resident District acknowledges the Course Completion policy established in August of 2009.

If the student does not complete the course within twelve (12) months from start date, the student will be dropped from the course and a five-hundred ($500) dollar drop fee will be charged. Course start and end dates will be listed on the student’s DLP.

A record of the Memorandum of Understanding between WeAVE and the resident district and Distance Learning Plans will be kept on file at the resident district and WeAVE.

This MOU is in effect till June 30, 2012
